A posed group of four officer cadets with sextants on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929).

A posed photograph of four P & O cadets of the 'Viceroy of India' (1929) on the starboard side of the Bridge Deck with their sextants.

P & O officers and cadets generally wore navy blue uniforms. They changed into cooler all-whites in the tropics. Officers kitted themselves out with their own money.

During the Second World War the 'Viceroy of India' was converted to a troopship. She was sunk by a German U-boat in 1942.
