Silver sugar basin presented to Lieutenant George James Evelyn

A silver sugar basin, with a gilded interior and bun feet. The sides are gadrooned, the rim decorated with shells and foliage. The upper parts of the handles are decorated with leaves, the lower parts are reeded. The sugar basin is inscribed on one side: 'From the Merchants and Ship Owners of Barbados / TO LIEUTENANT GEORGE JAMES EVELYN / of the Royal Navy / March 1816.' The Evelyn arms are engraved on the opposite side.
