Silver presentation tray
A silver tray with handles, with gadrooned edges, decorated with scallop shells and foliage. Engraved in the centre is the inscription: 'PRESENTED /To Lieutenant George James Evelyn / of the Royal Navy / BY THE MERCHANTS AND SHIP OWNERS OF BARBADOS / in testimony of their high sense of his services / WHILE IN COMMAND OF HIS MAJESTY'S BRIGS ECLAIR & SWAGGER / and particularly in cruizing to the windward of that Island for the / protection / OF THE TRADE DURING THE LATE WAR, / March 1816'. Above are the Evelyn family arms: per fesse or and azure, in base a griffon passant or, which is also the crest.
