They are wearing anti-flash hoods, gauntlets, steel helmetsand wet weather gear appropriate to the Arctic conditions and the exposed location of the torpedo mounts. The four men on the left have been identified in the official Admiralty caption as (left to right) Petty Officer Mahoney, J. Beck, R. Polkinghorne and C. Bell.
