Survivors from the destroyer HMS Achates
A group of survivors from the destroyer HMS Achates (1929), photographed following their rescue. Three of the men are holding 4.7-inch shells, reflecting the primary surface armament of their former parent ship. In the centre, one man is making a gesture reminiscent of 'V' for Victory.
