George III celestial floor globe

One of a pair of 18 inch diameter floor globes (the terrestrial globe is ZBA5107). It is mounted in a mahagony tripod stand with a compass in the base. There is dedication in an oval cartouche above the air pump constellation: ‘To the Rev. Nevil Maskelyne DD FRS this new British celestial globe containing the positions of nearly 6000 stars, clusters, nebulae, planetary nebulae &c correctly computed and laid down for the year 1800 from the latest observations and discoveries by Dr Maskelyne, Dr Herschel, the Revd Mr Woolaston &c &c. Respectfully dedicated by his most obedient servants W & TM Bardin. In a separate rectangular cartouche: Sold by W & S Jones, Holborn, London.
