Lightship clock timing mechanism
This is a chain-driven clock mechanism, built 1902-1903. It was used to turn the light used in a lightvessel - a ship that is moored in places where it is not possible to build a lighthouse. It is believed that this clock mechanim was installed in a Light Vessel operated by Trinity House that was stationed in the English Channel to warn ships of the Varne Bank, and was later moved to the Thames River.
