[b] H.M.S "Implacable"/Escorting the Royal Fusiliers to X Beach on the memorable occasion of the first landing at the Dardanelles, on April 25th, 1915.
Two versions of the same picture, (a) printed in blue-grey on white paper with a text mentioning Capt. Lockyer, (b) printed in sepia on buff paper. Both are re-issues of an image originally published in the pictorial news mgazine, 'The Sphere', of 25 September 1915, of which the original is Dawson's monochrome oil painting, now BHC0659, which forms part of the same collection (presented by Miss Lena Lockyer in 1972).The painting was subsequently obtained by the officers of 'Implacable' and presented to Captain Lockyer, her commander in the Dardanelles campaign. The introductory titles are slightly different and the other one (LOC298:6/12A) bears a text description of the ship's part in the landing on X Beach on 25 April 1915.
