Papanui (1898) abandoned as a burnt out wreck off St Helena.
A port bow view of the passenger/cargo ship Papanui (1898) at anchor after the fire had been put out and the ship abandoned as a wreck. The starboard side between the bridge and forecastle has buckled and twisted inward from the heat of the fire. She was later towed out and scuttled.
