Figure

A full-length earthenware figure depicting Admiral Sir James Whitley Deans Dundas (1785-1862). He rests his hand on a gun on a wheeled carriage with a pile of shot to his left; to his right an ensign, coloured red with a blue and white canton. Dundas is dressed in uniform and wearing a sword, with his hat under his arm. The figure is coloured in blue, yellow and red with white trousers; the details are picked out in gilt and 'DUNDAS' is inscribed on the base. The upper part of the back is moulded and coloured, the lower part flat and white. Vice-Admiral Dundas was Commander-in-Chief of the British fleet in the Black Sea during the Crimea War.
