'Spare propeller on Board. S.S. Esturia'
Signed and dated. This is one of 262 drawings and 2 paintings presented to the Museum by the artist's family in 2012, and related to John Kingsley Cook's wartime service in the merchant navy between December 1940 and August 1945. It is drawn on the back of a piece of a British Admiralty plan of the Magdalen Islands, Gulf of St Lawrence, showing Amhurst Harbour. It appears to adjoin ZBA5419. According to his certificate of discharge (in the hands of his descendants), Cook was assigned to SS Esturia from 16.12.1943 to 20.7.1944.
