House flag, Amoco Corporation

A white flag with an oval in the centre divided horizontally, red over blue bearing a blue flaming torch. Over all a white horizontal band with the name ‘AMOCO’ in black. The donor worked for Amoco managing two oil tankers 'Lord Strathcona' and 'Lord Mount Stephen' belonging to Canadian Pacific, Bermuda during 1976 to 1986. The vessels were shipping oil from the Montrose oil field in the North Sea prior to the establishment of a pipeline. The ensign was a spare one of a batch for the use of the supply boats and the ships. The flag is machine sewn with two brass eyelets in the corners of the hoist. The maker's label reads: 'SUPREME 75% Nylon - 25% wool VALLEY FORGE FLAG COMPANY INC, SPRING CITY P.A. 10475.' Stencilled on the hoist: '4 x 6 FT'.
