Figure
Flat-back Staffordshire figure representing Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). It is supported by an orange wall through which two guns protrude, with a pile of shot at the bottom. The face is coloured naturalistically and the figure has a black hat, yellow breeches and epaulettes with the details on the blue uniform picked out in gold. The back is only partly moulded and mostly unpainted. Although the figure is hollow the base is enclosed and has a gilt line around the edge. The figure is one of a set with Wellington and Napoleon.
