The Deperdussin Monoplane No. 1378 is being prepared for launching from the sloped wooden runway. The propeller has yet to be attached (obscured by the wings?). A number of sailors and officers are standing behind the breakwater near the 6 inch gun watching. The bottom left of the image is very dark as it is the canvas screen on the Bridge.

The Deperdussin was successfully flown from 'Aurora' on 4 November 1915 by Flight Lieutenant R J J Hope-Vere. According to her ship's log Aurora carried out aeroplane experiments in the morning of 4 November 1915.
