Napper the magpie mascot of HMS 'Aurora' (1913) on the perch in his cage.

Napper the magpie on the perch in his cage on the quarterdeck of HMS 'Aurora' (1913), a light cruiser based at Harwich. The cage has 'HMS Napper Aurora' painted on the front just below the curved roof. To the right is the 3 inch anti-aircraft gun trained aft, and behind that is the port side aft 4 inch gun. The ready-use ammunition can be seen in the tilted boxes on the deck behind the bird cage.

There is a small blemish on the negative on the mount for the 3 inch AA gun.
