Gourd
Bound gourd from New Caledonia showing many water marks, showing an interesting use of continuous chord for the binding. Two adhesive labels show the number ‘47’, and there are also fragments of labels on the lip.
This is part of a collection made by William Kershaw, Able Seaman on the missionary ship 'John Williams I' and was formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society. It was donated to the Society by his grandson on March 16, 1949.
