Medal commemorating the London Missionary Society Jubilee, 1844. Obverse: A missionary standing in the bows of a boat which wears a London Missionary Society ensign. The boat also carries three seated men, one of whom holds an open bible. It is approaching a tropical island where four seated or kneeling people on the shore await it. Exergue: 'GOD WAS IN CHRIST RECONCILING THE WORLD UNTO HIMSELF'. 2 COR. CH.5 V. 18'. Reverse: A heavenly crown above a trumpet decorated with palm branches. On a banner suspended from the trumpet: 'THE LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY FORMED IN THE YEAR 1795 HAS BEEN HONOURED [...] GOD IN SUCCESSFULLY DEFUSING THE GLORIOUS GOSPEL IN POLYNESIA, INDIA, CHINA, AFRICA & THE WEST INDIES. JUBILEE 22 SEPTR 1844. THE GREAT TRUMPET SHALL BE BLOWN AND THEY SHALL COME WHICH WERE READY TO PERISH. ISAIAH CHAP. 27 VER. 13.' At the edges: 'SANCTIONED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.'
