Collection box

A London Missionary Society collection box in the shape of a thatched, round hut. Inscribed: 'LMS' on the door. It is made of papier-mâché with a balsa wood base. A label stuck to the side reads: '6d per member per week is needed. Please put in your gift at a set time each week.' There is a slot for the money in the top which is extracted when an opening in the base is unsealed. A paper label covers the plug: 'LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY, Livingstone House, 42 Broadway, Westminster S.W.1. CHURCH ... Collector's name...Address... Box given out... To be brought in... Missionary Sec. FOR THE LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY at work in AFRICA, E. ASIA, INDIA, S. SEAS. MADAGASCAR, PAPUA.' Formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society.
