Porowa ra maru
A porowa ra maru ('bird head' club) from New Caledonia with the distinctive stepped handle of clubs produced on the island. The shape intentionally resembles an adze. It has been cut from a tree branch at an angle to the trunk.
The club was collected by William Kershaw, Able Seaman on 'John Williams I' and was formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society.
