Collection box

A collecting box in the shape of the 'John Williams' mission ship. It is painted blue with grey upper works and a red funnel. 'LMS' is inscribed on the prow and 'John Williams' across the stern in red. The ship is placed on a geen sea. The slot for the money is over the hold. The box is unopened, a label on the base is stuck over the plug inscribed: 'LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY, SHIP HALFPENNY BOX, for Sunday School and Departmental use. All the money collected in this box should be handed to a local L.M.S. Treasurer or sent direct to the HOME SECRETARY, LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY, 42 BROADWAY, LONDON SW1. To open, tear off label, and withdraw metal cap - re-label before use.' Formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society.
