Tree section mounted on plaque

Section of the Livingstone tree mounted on an oak plaque. The attached silver plate reads: ‘A FRAGMENT OF THE TREE AT CHITAMBO’S VILLAGE, ILALA, UNDERWHICH DAVID LIVINGSTONE DIED MAY 1ST 1873 AND WHERE HIS HEART WAS BURIED'. Mounted onto shaped piece of cork coveed with fabric - It probably once had a glass cover over the top. Formerly in the collections of the London Missionary Society.
