Looking aft from the foremast as the 'Aurora' (1913) turns to port during speed trials.
A view looking aft from the control top on the foremast at the wake of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913) while turning to port at 25 knots during her speed trials. The smoke pouring from the fore funnel partially obscures the view. The middle and aft 4 inch guns can be seen trained forwards, with the 34ft cutter on davits swung inboard.
HMS Aurora left Sheerness having been refitted at Chatham on 17 May and proceeded at high speed to Portsmouth. The next day was spent conducting mine laying trials off Spithead. [Ship's log, TNA, ADM 53/34496].
