The port side mine rails on board HMS 'Aurora' (1913)

The port side mine rails loaded with contact mines on board the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913). The photographer was standing on the port winch plate (just forward of the 6 inch gun) looking forward towards the boat davits and superstructure. The port side of the after 6 inch gun shield can be seen on the right of the negative. The mines are protected by canvas doggers along the ship's rails.
