Looking across to HMS Abdiel (1915) loaded with mines at Grangemouth.
A detailed photograph from the second funnel to the stern of the torpedo boat destroyer HMS 'Abdiel' (1915) fitted as a minelayer at Grangemouth. 'Abdiel' is loaded with mines and secured along the port side of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913). A sailor is working on 25ft whaler stored on davits on the starboard side. Between the second and third funnels is the wireless 'shack' made from a frame and tarpaulins. The after torpedo tubes have been removed leaving just the working table. The photographer was on the port side of the forward searchlight platform looking aft on board HMS 'Aurora'. The mines are loaded onto HMS 'Aurora' in two rows.
