Wallace are fishing from the stern of HMS 'Aurora' (1913). Lt. Syfret is standing by the stern bollards looking at the camera holding up two fish still attached to the fishing line. Assist. Paymaster Godfrey is sitting on the starboard bollard holding a fishing rod. His feet are resting on the chains used for emergency towing. Mr Wallace is sitting on the wire stantion at the stern near the port side depth charge with a line over the side. Behind Lt. Syfret is the L class destroyer Loyal (1913) with a pendant number '80' on the stern. The high hills of Dover are in the background. Part of a Carley Float can be seen on the bottom right of the photograph. An unidentified merchant ship is on the right of the photograph.
