A framed photograph of the screw frigate 'Aurora' (1861) in the wardroom of HMS 'Aurora' (1913).
A view of the same framed photograph as in negative N22885. The photograph has been placed on the floor and propped up against the back of one of the winged leather armchairs in the wardroom of the light cruiser 'Aurora' (1913). The photographer had placed his camera on the floor.
The image is of the 50-gun screw frigate HMS 'Aurora' (1861) depicting her in winter quarters off Quebec in 1866-7. The masts and yards have been struck to the deck and an awning erected over the hull. A similar photograph by Messrs Vallee & Labelle of Quebec was published in the Illustrated London News on 20 April 1867 and again in the Navy & Army Illustrated on 8 April 1899.
The negative has been partially exposed causing a light streak diagonally across the left corner affecting the image.
