A view taken from the foremast of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913) looking towards the stern of HMS 'Penelope' (1914). Both ships are alongside the quay at Grangemouth. 'Penelope' is loaded with two rows of mines down each side of the quarterdeck. In the immediate foreground is the bow of 'Aurora'.

The negative is slightly under-exposed.
