Earthenware figure of a sailor standing on a grassy mound and holding a striped flag on a short pole in his left hand. The face and black hair and whiskers are coloured naturalistically. The figure wears white trousers, a striped guernsey, green waistcoat, blue jacket and uncoloured straw hat. The upper part of the back is moulded and coloured, the lower part which is formed of draped fabric from the flag is plain white. The base of the hollow figure is enclosed.
