Figure
An earthenware figure of a sailor. The white base, moulded as rockwork is extended behind the figure to support it and has an anchor in relief, painted black, on which the sailor leans. He is depicted with legs crossed and his right hand on his hip, wearing white trousers, a green guernsey, a blue jacket with gold lace, a red neckerchief and a yellow straw hat. The face, hands and hair are painted in naturalistic colours. There is a gilt line around the enclosed base.
