Figure group
Flat-backed earthenware figure group depicting a wounded soldier supported by a sailor. Based on an engraving of 'Landing of the Invalided and the Wounded' Crimea War 'Cassels Illustrated Family Paper' 7 April 1855. The sailor to the right has a light blue shirt, white trousers, black belt, red neckerchief and yellow straw hat. He holds a pink bundle in his left hand. The soldier has a blue jacket, red hat and pink cloak. The figures are supported by a wall and bollard behind them. The white base is inscribed in gold 'Wounded Soldier'. The group is painted in overglaze enamels and has an enclosed base.
