A porcelain figure of an admiral in civilian dress prior to the introduction of naval uniform in 1748. The figure wears a red coat and waistcoat, blue stockings and a black, gold-laced cocked hat. He holds a sword in his right hand. 'Admiral 1714' is inscribed underneath the base with the maker's mark. One of a series of figures illustrating the development of British naval uniform.
