Figure
A porcelain figure inscribed on the base 'Post Captain 1748'. He is actually wearing lieutenant's full dress uniform 1748-1767 pattern. A post captain would have had white lapels and cuffs with a blue sleeve slash and gold lace edge in undress. The officer is shown wearing a blue coat with white cuffs, blue breeches, white waistcoat and stockings and black hat. The waistcoat and hat have the gold lace represented by gilding. The figure is shown about to lift a telescope to his eye. One of a series of figures illustrating the development of British naval uniform with the Dresden gold anchor mark on the base.
