A porcelain figure inscribed on the base 'Purser 1798'. He is represented wearing the 1787-1807 pattern uniform of a purser, with white stockings, breeeches and waistcoat, a blue coat and a black cocked hat. He holds a paper in his left hand and a pen in his right. One of a series of figures illustrating the development of British naval uniform with the Dresden gold anchor mark on the base.
