A porcelain figure inscribed on the base 'Post-Captain 1798'. He wears the full dress uniform of a Post Captain, 1795-1812 pattern. The figure has white breeches, waistcoat and stockings, blue coat and a black cocked hat. The gold lace on the hat, the coat and the epaulettes is represented by gilding. The lapels but not the back of the coat are laced. The captain wears a sword and holds up a speaking trumpet in his right hand. One of a series of figures illustrating the development of British naval uniform with the Dresden gold anchor mark on the base.
