Portrait medallion
A dark blue ceramic portrait medallion with a white relief depicting Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The portrait is the same as that modelled by John de Vaere in 1798 for Wedgwood and shows Nelson after the loss of his arm in 1797 wearing the star and sash of the Order of the Bath. There are three pierced holes in the back. The maker's name is impressed on the reverse.
