David Livingstone DCL

Portrait of David Livingstone DCL, 1813-1873. LMS missionary in South Africa 1841-1856.
This portrait, probably after a photograph by Thomas Annan (?), hung in the boardroom of the London Missionary Society. It reflected Livingstone's iconic status within the organization, which eclipsed ealier missionaries like John Williams.
