On board a Tongkung type junk which is being built on a slip at Singapore. The photographer is in the hold looking aft into the stern showing the almost fully framed hull but the internal and external hull planking is not complete. The transom is in position. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
