A starboard side view of a Tonkin type junk moored bow-on to the shore at Singapore
A starboard side view, taken from abaft the beam, of a Tonkin type junk moored bow-on to the shore at Singapore. The vessel is of the three masted type and the lug sails are stowed fore and aft. She has an overhanging platform at the stern and her large rudder is perforated. Other junks are berthed oneither side of her. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
