The fore part of a Tonkin type junk anchored at Singapore

A port side view of the fore part of a Tonkin type junk moored at Singapore. The photographer is off the port side amidships looking forward and to starboard showing the bow as far aft as the mainmast. The vessel is of the two masted type and her lug sails are stowed fore and aft. The tops of her masts are out of the picture. A windlass is to port of the mainmast and another is on the forecastle. The bow is of the horned type with the bulwarks extended forward. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938. Negative number P33998 is a view of the after part of the same vessel.
