The after part of a Tonkin type junk anchored at Singapore

A port side view of the after part of a Tonkin type junk moored at Singapore. The photographer is off the port side just in line with the stern looking forward and to starboard showing the stern as far forward as the forecastle. The vessel is of the two masted type and her lug sails are stowed fore and aft. The top of her mainmast is out of the picture. A windlass is to port of the mainmast and another is on the forecastle. A platform extends well abaft the sternpost and has an awning above it. Her wooden rudder is perforated. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938. Negative number P33997 is a view of the fore part of the same vessel.
