Two bell stemmed harbour junks moored bow-on to the shore at Singapore
A bow view of two bell stemmed harbour junks moored bow-on to the shore at Singapore with other junks. The vessels are three masted and the tops of their fore and main masts are out of the picture. Their fore and main lug sails are stowed fore and aft and the mizzen sail is stowed up the mast. They are both laden and have awnings rigged to keep off the rain. The junk on the left is numbered 3034 and the one on the right is 2929. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
