On board a small C/B trader junk anchored in Singapore harbour. The photographer is on the port side of the deck amidships looking forward showing a wooden windlass to port of the mainmast and two wooden anchor handling windlasses on either side of the foremast. The vessel is a three masted type and her lug sails are stowed fore and aft. A number of local and deep-sea steam and motor ships are in the background. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
