Junks in Singapore harbour

Two junks anchored at Singapore. The photographer is close to the starboard side a three masted type, looking forward and to port showing the fore and main lug sails stowed fore and aft. The forward lug sail is resting on a crossed timber support. An anchor windlass is on the forecastle. A cover is over the hold abaft the mainmast and the tops of the masts are out of the picture. A Tongkung type gaff ketch rigged junk is at anchor in the background. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
