A stern view of a two masted trader junk anchored at Penang

A slightly distant port quarter view, taken from fine off the stern, of a deeply laden two masted trader type junk anchored at Penang. Her lug sails are stowed fore and aft but her mainsail has not been fully lowered. Two bamboo derricks are crossed just abaft the foremast and a light yard is crossed about halfway up the mainmast. She has a full bagged cargo. An accommodation shelter is aft and her boat is in the water tied to the stern. Other shipping is in the background. The photographer was at Penang from 28 February to 7 March 1938.
