On board the Hainan C.S. stern fisher type junk with the port number 1090HA anchored at Aberdeen, Hong Kong. The photographer is looking forward from the poop showing crew members splitting bamboo canes, presumably to make baskets for the fish catch. A number of baskets are on deck. The fishing net windlass is in the background. A large awning is spread above the waist. Carriage mounted muzzle loading cannon are on either side of the poop in the foreground. The photographer was in the area in the following periods: 6 to 28 May 1937; 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938; 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938.
