A stern view, taken from very fine off the port quarter, of a Swatow trader type junk close to a wharf at Kowloon, Hong Kong. She is three masted and her mizzen mast is on the starboard side of her stern. The tops of her main and mizzen masts are out of the picture. A man is standing on her wooden rudder which has been raised almost clear of the water and tilted. Warehouses are on the quay in the background. The photographer was in the area in the following periods: 6 to 28 May 1937; 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938; 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938.
