Kai Tak aerodrome and Hong Kong Island

A general view of Kai Tak aerodrome, Hong Kong, in the late evening looking south-west across the aerodrome with the north end of Kowloon Bay in the background and Hong Kong Island and Victoria Peak beyond. The entrance gates to the Royal Air Force Station are in the foreground. Street lights and the lights of vessels in the harbour are on. The photographer was serving in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy and his ship, the aircraft carrier Eagle (1918), was at Hong Kong in the periods 6 to 28 May 1937, 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938, 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938.
