A portrait of two men working in a sampan at Weihaiwei. The photographer is in the sampan looking aft showing one man sculling with on oar to port and a man in a trilby holding the steering oar in his left hand and the sail's sheet in his right. The image is not sharp. The photographer's ship was at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 June to 21 July 1937, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938.
