The officers and men of 824 Squadron, Fleet Air Arm in a formal group in front of one of their Fairey Swordfish I torpedo bomber reconnaissance biplane aircraft on Seletar airfield, Singapore. There are 62 officers and men and they are in their No. 1 uniforms, including head dress. Nine officers are wearing caps, the remainder of the group are wearing topis. 824 Squadron disembarked to Seletar from the aircraft carrier Eagle (1918) on four occasions in 1938; 14 to 31 January, 5 to 26 February, 9 to 16 March and 17 to 27 September.
