A starboard side view of an Indian kotia type dhow in Colombo harbour, Ceylon

A close starboard side view, taken from just abaft the beam, of an Indian kotia type dhow berthed in Colombo harbour, Ceylon. Her mainsail is partially hoisted and she has an awning rigged over her poop. Her bow, stern and the tops of her masts are out of the picture. The photographer was taking passage on the Royal Navy heavy cruiser Cumberland (1926) from Singapore to the U.K. at the time. The image is slightly unsharp.
